Doyle Dykes, a guitar legend who has played on stage with Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Duane Eddy, Peter Frampton, John Fogerty, Vince Gill, and many others will be in Caldwell, ID to perform on stage for the benefit of Don Christensen, a long time Caldwell resident and businessman. The concert is a community effort for Christensen who is battling pancreatic cancer. Don Christensen has owned and operated American Music for over 20 years and is a world class musician in his own right. “Christensen, is a giver and has contributed to the success of many churches, musicians, school band members, and even small children, and this event is a chance to give back to a man who has given so much to so many,” said Mickey Shields, coordinator of the event. Shields adds, “Doyle Dykes is a close personal friend of Dons’ and has agreed to do this concert, even canceling an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry to be here for his friend.”

Dykes early years as a guitarist took him around the world, touring with the Stamps quartet and later with Grand Ole Opry star Grandpa Jones. He returns regularly to the Grand Old Opry appearing live on National television. He is also an endorser and clinician for Taylor Guitars, and is the only guitar player to have a Taylor signature series model. Dykes performs in venues ranging from theatres to churches and his appreciation for various styles of music is reflected in the different albums he has recorded and includes signature compositions, such as Jazz in the Box, Martha’s Kitchen, and Powerful hymns like How Great Though Art. Dykes’ music has been heard on United Airlines, Air Canada, NPR’s morning news, All Things Considered, Disney’s California Adventure, and the Space Shuttle Atlantis.

This event will also showcase some of the recent work done in downtown Caldwell at the Caldwell Train Depot. “If you haven’t visited downtown Caldwell lately to see what is going on, this would be a good chance to do so,” says Shields. The event will be held Saturday, September 1st from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and will include a live auction, silent auction, dessert auction, drawings, food, fun, and fellowship. It is a ticketed event and tickets are $10.00 each and will be available at the door. In addition to this concert Dykes will appear at Valley Pentecostal Church in Caldwell, Sunday morning, September 2nd at 10:00 am.
